What is World of Warcraft: Forever
World of Warcraft: Forever launched on November 4, 2026. It is a separate version of the game built on the original 2004 world, with a permanent level cap of 60 and horizontal progression: new zones, dungeons, raids and systems arrive over time, but the cap never moves.
How it relates to Classic and modern WoW
- Modern WoW keeps its expansions and level cap.
- WoW Classic stays as it is, era and anniversary realms included.
- Forever sits next to both. It is included with any active subscription or Game Time, with optional paid upgrade packs.
What is different from Classic at launch
- Rulesets instead of realms: Normal, PvP, RP and RP-PvP, with Hardcore planned for winter 2026/27. You can only group with players on the same ruleset and faction.
- The Skyborne, a new neutral race with its own starting zone, Zephras Isle.
- Three new zones, nine new dungeons from level 13 to 60, and new raids opening on December 9.
- The Legacy system: account-wide challenges that award points which each character spends on perks.
- Talents start at level 10 with a new milestone at 16 points. Dual specialization unlocks at level 40.
- No dungeon finder. Groups are found through the premade group tool and the LookingForGroup channel.
